Justice begs the question, "Why a Supreme Court."

To better understand the reasons for establishing a Supreme Court, a view of the history of the thirteen colonies versus King George of England is in order. Records indicate that the King was overbearing, unjust and domineering.

After suffering under intolerable conditions for a long time and having exhausted every means of arbitration with the British, the colonists finally rebelled. Some believe that the tea tax was the reason but this was simply "the straw that broke the camel's back". Others believe that "taxation without representation" was the cause; certainly it was a major factor, but complaints were many and not limited to these alone.
